Flowers are beautiful for sure, but they also say so much. Red roses, of course, are a symbol of true love, which is why they’re sent for special occasions. But all flowers have meanings and symbolisms. If you’re planting a garden, especially here in Los Angeles, why not plant flowers that have meaning. Here are a few ideas to get you going:
Poppies are not only the California state flower, but they stand for wealth and success. However, there are a number of other poppies, as well, with their own meanings. Plant red poppies stand for pleasure while white ones for dreams and peaces.
Hibiscus should be planted when you want to commentate a rare and delicate beauty.
Hollyhocks might be old-fashioned flowers, but they stand for ambitions. (Hmm, maybe I ought to plant a bunch of those this spring).
Daisies symbolized innocence, loyalty love, cheer and simplicity.
Dahlias, on the other hand, signify elegance and dignity.
Bird of Paradise is a popular flower in garden around L.A. They stand for liberty, magnificence and good perspective.
Olive trees are abundant in this Mediterranean climate and they stand for peace.
Aloe is a succulent plant that many people grow in this area. It’s great to break a piece off and use the juice to take the sting out of burns. But it also means grief and is a good plant to give in remembrance of someone who has passed away.
Rosemary is another good plant to give away or plant in your garden, since it symbolized remembrance.
